Spring clean – Best household cleaning products UK

2240 1260 Great Deals Made Easy

93% of households claimed they spring-clean at least once a year and often and six in ten of us Brits admit to cleaning in between work tasks. That’s no surprise for those of us who work from home and who can easily leave an empty coffee cup around. In this article, I review some of the best household cleaning products in the market.

Why is cleaning necessary?

It may seem silly, but regular cleaning safely and effectively removes germs and other contaminants from your home. Doing a spring clean can help us stay healthy, care for our homes and possessions, and make our surroundings more pleasant (there’s a real mental health benefit too, as my made-up saying goes “less mess, less distress”).

Cleaning Gadgets UK

Robot cleaning gadgets are expected to be huge in the future. Besides a few in the market, most people like to use their cleaning gadgets themselves.  There are a lot of gadgets out there., but the two brands that took my notice are Hoover and Gtech. For other gadget ideas check out Forbe’s article.

Hoover

The Hoover Company was founded in Ohio, US, in 1915. I’ve tried out their Hoover’s HFX, their latest vacuum. It has Corner Genie technology meaning it can reach corners much more ease. Hoover’s HFX is a new upright stick that easily reaches corners, comes with no-touch bin emptying technology, and includes a five-year warranty. The three key benefits of the cordless HFX vacuum cleaner are performance, efficiency, and design. I found the light, suction and no touch bin emptying function the key highlights. This is ideal for home floor cleaning, from the desk to the kitchen to your living room.

Gtech

Gtech was founded in 2001 in the UK with over 22 million products sold in 19 countries. I tried out their Multi-platinum cordless handheld vacuum, retailing at £269.99. The top features for me were the strengthened aluminium parts, scented cartridges and the 30-minute run time before charging is needed. This is ideal for cleaning your car or hard-to-reach areas in your home.

Tower

Since 1912, Tower has over 100 years of experience in manufacturing and design excellence, providing homes with everyday kitchen essentials. I tried out their £119.99 TCW AQUAJET PLUS Carpet Washer with Allergen Removal. The gadget gives your carpets a powerful, bacteria-killing, deep-down clean. Their key features are the Dual water chambers with 2.3L clean water and 1.5L dirty water capacity; and the separated tanks preventing cross-contamination. This high-power aqua jet penetrates deep into the carpet pile, quickly removing stains, odours and excess water to refresh and revitalise your carpets and short-haired rugs. This is ideal for cleaning your carpets in bedrooms and other carpeted areas.

Leading cleaning brands

According to Statista, there are 40 different cleaning. Dettol Anti-Bacterial Surface Cleanser leads the British ranking for the most frequently selected brand with 7.8 million people buying it a year, with Flash All-purpose in second place with 7.2 million. That’s a lot of people into cleaning.

Tips for spring cleaning

  1. Ensure there is ventilation by opening windows and doors to let fresh air in.
  2. Clean behind furniture and appliances, that is where dust builds up.
  3. Plan what rooms you want to focus on first to prioritise your time.
  4. Take regular breaks – An hour of housework can burn around 200 calories.

Feel free to share your best cleaning products and gadgets. Here’s to getting rid of the mess and avoiding distress.
